Chris & Freya – A Magical Celebration of Love, Friendship & Forever
Some weddings mean more than just a day behind the camera, they carry memories from childhood, friendship that’s lasted years, and a deep honour in being chosen not just as a photographer, but as a guest too. Chris is one of those people for me, a dear friend since our Playbox days — and getting to witness him marry Freya, his perfect match, was nothing short of magical.
And I mean literally magical.
Disney, Dresses & a Hint of Hogwarts
The day started with Freya getting ready, surrounded by a few close friends and the soundtrack of Disney classics filling the room. The atmosphere was light, joyful, and full of excitement. Her wedding dress hung perfectly against a bookcase — a nod to the Harry Potter theme that was woven throughout the day — and already, the vibe felt like stepping into a storybook.
A sweet first look with her dad and from that moment on, it was clear this wedding was going to be something truly special.
A Barn Transformed Into a Wizarding World
The venue was breathtaking — a barn with soaring wooden beams, a crackling fireplace, and three giant wagon-wheel chandeliers. But it didn’t stop there.
The chandeliers were dressed with floating candles, Hogwarts letters, golden snitches, and enchanted flying keys. Every table centerpiece represented a different Hogwarts class — from Potions to Herbology — and even the groomsmen wore ties in house colours. Every detail was thought through and tastefully executed. It was Harry Potter, but make it classy.
An Entrance, a Vow & a Whole Lot of Love
Then came Freya’s grand entrance — and Chris’s face lit up the entire barn. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. The ceremony was emotional, heartfelt, and filled with raw, genuine moments. They’d written their own vows, spoken through slightly shaky voices and wide smiles. A few nervous sweats, a lot of tears, and endless joy, and just like that, they became Mr & Mrs Badrick.
Games, Wands & Perfect Timing
Outside, the fun kicked off with themed games, guests played Quidditch and searched for Dobby’s missing socks while welcome drinks were passed around. I snuck Chris & Freya away for their couple session, where we were joined by none other than their adorable pup, Ned — dressed for the occasion, of course.
They brought their wands (how could they not?), and at one point, just as they held them high to the sky — the clouds turned grey and moody, like they’d conjured them with magic. Honestly? It was perfect timing.
And just as we wrapped, the heavens opened. Rain poured — and didn’t stop for the rest of the night. But it didn’t matter. The timing was spot on, and the celebrations only got better from there.
Floating Candles, Brilliant Speeches & Belly Laughs
Back inside, the floating candles flickered to life, casting the perfect glow for speeches. Emotions ran high, laughter filled the room, and the best man speech was one for the books — hilarious, heartfelt, and completely unforgettable.
A First Dance to Remember & A Party to Follow
Chris & Freya took to the dance floor with elegance and ease, performing a rehearsed first dance that genuinely took everyone’s breath away. It was beautiful, intimate, and so very them.
From that moment, the dance floor never emptied. Guests danced late into the night, letting loose, celebrating hard, and soaking up every last drop of the day. It wasn’t just a party — it was a reflection of who they are: fun, warm, deeply connected, and full of life.
Chris & Freya, capturing your wedding day was more than a job — it was a joy, a privilege, and a memory I’ll hold close forever. Watching two incredible souls step into this new chapter together, with so much magic around you, was nothing short of spellbinding. Thank you for letting me be a part of it all.
